Changing the Web folder or default Web page
Changing the Web folder
When you install AppleShare IP, it creates a folder called Web Folder at the root of the server's startup disk. This is the default Web folder.
To change the default Web folder:
1 |
Open Mac OS Server Admin and log on to the server you want to administer. |
2 |
Press the Web Services button and choose Configure Web Server. |
|
|
3 |
In the General panel, click "Current Web folder:" |
4 |
Locate the new Web folder, then click Choose. |
5 |
Click Save. |
6 |
Drag the contents of your previous Web folder to your new Web folder. |
|
If you are hosting a single Web site, the Web folder must contain your Web site files and the Plug-Ins, Error Files, and Remote Admin folders. |
|
If you are hosting multiple Web sites, the default Web folder must contain the Plug-Ins and Error Files folders, and the Multi Domain Plugin. |
7 |
Stop and start the Web server. |
Changing the default Web page
When you install AppleShare IP, it creates a file named Default.html inside the default Web folder. This is your default Web page; it appears when someone connects to your Web site without specifying a filename.
To change the name of the default Web page:
1 |
Open Mac OS Server Admin and log on to the server you want to administer. |
2 |
Press the Web Services button and choose Configure Web Server. |
|
|
3 |
In the General panel, type a name in the "Default document name" text box. |
|
A file with this name must be in the Web folder and must contain HTML code. If you are hosting multiple Web sites, each one must use the same default page name. |
4 |
Click Save. |
5 |
Stop and start the Web server. |
